...is a purpose built luxury outdoor cattery nestled at the base of the rolling Howardian Hills with the White Horse in the distance. We are situated four miles south-west of Easingwold in the quiet rural village of Flawith.
The 22 chalets are set within two acres of pasture. With idyllic countryside views, they offer peace and tranquility for our guests who can gaze out of their chalets to watch the abundant local wildlife.
We aim to create the purrfect environment for your much loved pet.
All our chalets are more spacious than required by the licensing authorities. Eight of the chalets can be linked in pairs using hatches to accommodate up to four guests per pair, whilst four of the chalets can take a maximum of 3 guests each, so there are a number of options to meet your needs. All of the chalets are designed for our guests' comfort to ensure that they enjoy their stay, and so that you can relax and enjoy your time away.
We are delighted to offer four family sized luxury suites that provide a more sumptuous experience for our guests. The luxury chalets feature wall decals, bespoke beds and scratching posts, televisions and deluxe bedding and cat toys. After all, doesn't your feline deserve a touch of class from time to time!
Hambleton Hills Cattery is at our family home. Our family comprises Sarah and Geoff Potts, our two children and our rescued cats Charlie and Rupert. We also have a number of very reliable laying hens!
Sarah says “I have had a dream of running my own cattery for a number of years, and I have a real passion for cats after growing up within a household of cats of all shapes, sizes and needs…..finally I get to live the dream! I look forward to welcoming you and your cats when you visit us.”
Viewings of our facilities are most welcome.
Enrichment for Guests
When cats arrive at the cattery there are a number of enrichment toys such as balls, springs, bells and soft mice, as well as a large scratch post put out in preparation for an arrival. I also have tunnels, tents and ball towers I can put in for guests if they would like them. Cats like hiding places and I feel we offer lots of opportunities.
In the inner part of the chalet there is a large ledge and window to watch out onto the corridor and garden beyond, then they can then access the outer part of the chalet through a cat flap where there are 3 further shelves at various heights to observe from height what's going on.
All cats are given time on numerous occasions for 1:1 fuss, cuddles and the opportunity to play with dangling toys, if they wish, throughout the day. If a guest prefers to be left alone, then this is fine, but the same opportunities are given.
In the warmer months we take the plastic fronts off the cattery to allow the air in. Cats very much enjoy the sun, warmth and fresh air.
Whilst it is important to spend direct time with each cat individually, a lot of cats also like to watch what is going on in the corridor, the comings and goings, and listening to the radio for a few hours a day.
Various treats are offered each day, in small amounts and if agreed with by the owner, as part of enrichment. The use of treat balls/ mice are also used.
